Show ITS USUAL WAY The Herald has called attention to the silence of the Tribune since the grand jury has been In session over the Sanpete election frauds and its knowledge of the persons who perpetrated per-petrated them which It so frequently affirmed before the grand jury was empaneled By a silly squib it attempts at-tempts to divert attention from the real point arid sputters out these falsehoods That persons who know something about the frauds have been before the grand jury Is evident from the tact that three Democrats have been indicted in-dicted and two are under arrest charged with committing these frauds To be sure The Herald wasnt enough of a newspaper to print the facts and Its editorial was therefore a ridiculous ridicul-ous blunder under the circumstances but then what can be expected of The Herald The grand jury has found indictments indict-ments against three persons for the frauds committed in connection with the Ogden returns for the election of county collector The persons who went before the grand jury knew something about those frauds perhaps per-haps But what is that to do with the Sanpete affair about which thff Tribune Tri-bune professed to know so much It is not a fact that three Democrats Demo-crats have been indicted and two are under arrest it is a falsehood as the writer of it no doubt understands perfectly per-fectly That is worse than a ridiculous blunder even if The Herald had made one which has not been shown It is a fact that The Herald published the true particulars of the indictment of the persons charged with > the Ogden election frauds but not the He that they were all Democrats Nothing in all that has any relation to the boast of the Tribune before the grand jury sat and Its nence since Nor with The Heralds suggestion that the men who claimed to know who are the guilty parties and those who so singularly discovered the alleged forgeries for-geries in the returns after having them in their private possesion so long should be summoned before the grand jury and be required to tell it all There are four assertions and four falsehoods in the clipping we have made from the Tribune but then what can be expected of that paper When It tries to dodge the truth and wiggle its way out of a dilemma |
