| Show OFFICIAL NEGLIGENCE Over One Hundred Men In One Regiment Regi-ment Are Lost Camp Wikoff N Y Sept GThe First Illinois men had hoped to getaway get-away this morning but they will not be able to leave now before Wednesday or Thursday the latter day probably because of a lack of transportation facilities Two or three notable Chicago Chi-cago men have telegraphed to President Presi-dent McKinley direct urging him to intervene and hasten the getting away of the Chicago regiment The regiment will return to Illinois 1018 strong of whom about 200 are ill The well men will go on two trains ahead of the hospital hos-pital train Governor Tanner of Illinois Illi-nois wired Colonel Turner that he and his regiment would have a most friendly friend-ly reception Colonel Turner said today that 103 of his men were missing Some had been taken on detached duty or into hospitals or had been furloughed without with-out notice to him by the military authorities au-thorities concerned He also said he had not been able to find these men or give any account of them fie was disposed to believe that records were not as accurately kept as they shQuld be |
