Show STAGE SCENERY AFFECTED JJY VI TASCORE The unquestioned success of the vita scope has turned the attention of stage managers to the possibilites which are now opened out in the Improvement of their scenery One of them said after seeing the vUascope pictures That sot ties scenery Painted trees that do not move waves that get up a few feet and stay there everything in scenery we simulate sim-ulate on our stages will have to go When art can make us believe that we see actual living nature the dead things of the stage must go The vitascope pictures are wonderfully realistic The figures are lifesize and appear to be ac tual creatures cf flesh and blood In the dancing scenes every movement was as natural as If the living figures were pirouetting pi-rouetting on the stage and even blonde tresses stirred by the vigor of the per formers exercise streamed out as naturally natur-ally as if a little breeze were toying with them In a seastrand piece the big rollers roll-ers were seen to break on the beach the foam flew high and the weakened waters poured far up he sand Then great com hors arose and pushed each other shoreward shore-ward one mounting over the other until they seemed to fall with mighty force and altogether on the yellow strand whose shifting motion could be plainly seen The figure of a celebrated singer can now be projected on the stage and his every movement and mannerism can bo reproduced while his stock songs are be ing given from behind the stage by means of the phonograph This instrument has of late Deen so greatly improved in the matter of the quality and the power of its vocal and instrumental music records that its combination with the vitascope for purposes of entertainment appears to have a promising field |
