Show IT WAS A GREAT FROST Attendance at the Republican Pri aries Very lIeagre I rSOlE DISTRICTS FAILED I i TO ISSUE CALLS AND FAILED TOT TO-T Total Attendance I the Cit Did Not Exceed 65oIn Mny Districts There Weie rot Enough Present t Make the Allotted Number of Delegates I r I Judging by the results of the nepub lean nimaries in this city last evening even-ing the fight betVC9n the two partIes this fall will result in a emocratc victory The attendance vas very small In the First municipal ward of the cty there were about 156 voters turned out the heaviest attendance being be-Ing at the NInth ward school house where perhaps 20 people nntted to vote ere present In some distrIcts no pri manes wee held lt all Allowance must be made In some Instances for luck of attendance because of failure laces but to advertise the meeting w here they were advertised i did not difference Lack of I seem to make any diference I enthusiasm was noticed all over the First ward There were no spirited contests and the vote was in every instance In-stance a unanimoUs one Down in the Second the attendance was slim very slim The boys did not turn out al all in comparison with 10 years ago Republicans seemed to be very scarce In the Thirtenth district dis-trict for Instance Which was held at Selfs hall on Aberdeen treet when Sels hal aHerald man arrived there at 15 minutes min-utes ISt the hOl Vil Brown and another nl sat listlessly In the place eating cheese and waiting for voters to come l ind elect them as delegates Up at the Fourteenth two blocks from Aberdeen street Burton and Giles the standbys of the part and three others sat patent waiting for two more so they could go ahead and do business They ctme In later in the evening and were all triumhanty selected Joe EldredJe and Clstus Butler told stories to two other people at Seventh South and West Temple w11le waIting for a quorum in district Twelve Joe Cotte four made slates Charlie Post and more in the Twentieth pending the arrival of the men and women to vote them Down at the Twentyffh four men stood on the sidewalk waiting for passersby pass-ersby to come along so they could induce them to vote Harry Early D W Gamble and Jesse Fox constituted the contingent in the Twentythird George H Taylor came along In time to get on the ticket as did Frank Wise man Fred Price Frank leyers 3 C Lucey and a few others nominated the ticket in the Twentsixth and claimed 43 votes after it wqs over Inasmuch the done viva voce the as LL U LUJ5 was v tC Y u < votn number of ballots or votes was deter nlineby the sound The boys shouted Aye very lusty Albert Riser had a good crowd In the Seventeenth there being 18 people inside Judge Lochrie worked the combination In the Nineteenth Nine-teenth where 1 souls met in solemn conclave and resoluted and resolve The Eihteenth Wea billed to meet in Shills hal but Shills hal was as dark as the proverbial heal of black cats before and after the time for holding a meeting Inquiry among a crowd of small boys as to whether they had seen or heard of anx meeting elicIted the derisive reply Naw we dont know were Democrats nawtifn hoci J Republicans Candidly speaking the total attendance attend-ance at all the primaries held in the Second munlcDal ward was less than 200 The delegations are for Graham for county clerk for Condie for sheriff and Matson for reorder A Graham Condie combination has been put up In the Second and Briant Young will get small consolation from that end of the ton If the arty leader have any thI to say about i Over In the Third an attempt was made In two or tiee places to get up some enthusiasm but i was like trying to crack a joke with the mourners at a funeral The boys failed to enthuse as they lseter The delegations elected represented 60 per cent of the attendance In the Fourth ward the members of the party vainly trIedto get up a little spirit They failed One hundred and 1 twentyfve Is an outside figure The returns show greater numbers but The Herald reporters present agree that 1251 Is away up and that counting children dren and transients 90 will equal the total vote In the Fifth the home of the workers work-ers where George Nye Dennis Eich nor City Engineer Kelsey Councilman Robertson the old home of Joe Cotte I and the place where the old crowd used to get around and fbor successfully success-fully the attendance was pitiful I Tables were set on the sidewalk and passersby invited to vote Some accepted ac-cepted and some did not and finally the boys succeed In getting enough elected to fully represent the districts The attendance nt the entire number of meetings did not exceed 75 although the figures were padded to show better results Counting children and all who voted the attendance at the entire lot of primaries pri-maries did not exceed 650 FIRST PRECINCT District IDelegates to county and precinct conventions Mrs W S Giesy Mrs E C Baskins Byron Cummings Cum-mings S J Paul Mrs
