Show I SENSIBLE MINING REGULATION Bylaws Adopted in the New District of Randsburg In the organization of the Randsburg district in the Mojave desert Cal rome very sensible rules and regulations regula-tions were incorporated in the bylaws as follows fjvery location of a mining claim 5n said district shall contain First the nam of the claim second the name of the locator or locators third the date of the location fourth the number of teet in length of said claim and the number of feet claimed on each side of the center of discovery shaft lengthwise length-wise of the claim and the number off of-f ct claimed on each side of the discovery dis-covery shaft crosswise of the claim ffh the general course of the lode or premises as near as may be sixth the locality of the claim with reference to some natural object or permanent monument mon-ument a will identify the claim Sec C Before filing the locatidn certificate cer-tificate with the recorder of the dis r uIct the discoverer shall locate his claim first by sinking a discovery I shaft upon the premises so claimed to a depth of at least ten feet from the lowest part of the rim of such shaft at the surface and deeper if necessary until there is shown by necessar a lode or deposit of mineral in place second by uosting a notice at the point of discovery on the surface said notice so posted substantially conform ing to the location certificate third by marking such claim or premises on the ground so that the boundaries I shall be marked by not less I than seven substantial posts projecting not less I than three feet above the ground or by I fubstantial stone monuments at least I three feet high towit The initial or discovery monument or post one at each corner of the claim and one at each end center thereof See 4 Any open crosscut cut adit or tunnel which shall be made as above provided for 3 a part of the location of a mining claim and which shall be equal in amount of work to a shaft often of-ten feet deep from the lowest part of the rim of such shaft at the surface and four feet wide and six feet long and which shall cut a lode or body of mineral in place at the depth of ten feet from the surface shall be equivalent equiva-lent a discovers work to a shaft sunk from the surface as hereinbefore mentioned I Sec 7 Within three 3 months after the expiration of the period of time for the performance of annual labor or the making of improvements upon any mining claim or premises tht person on whose behalf such work or improvements were made or some person per-son for him knowing the facts may make and record in the office of the district recorder an affidavit Then follows the form of the affidavit to bi made Section S deals with the relocation of forfeied and abandoned claims and provides that they shall only be made by sinking a new discovery shaft and fixing boundary lines the fxing new boundar lnes same as in making a new location or the relocator may sink the original disc dis-c ery shaft ten feet deeper and erect new monuments and shall state in the I location certificate if the whole or any part of the relocation has been made I on abandoned property |
