Show LAWMAKERSAfLOGAN t I A PleaantVisit to the Agricultural ole THIRDHOUSE CONVENES t ADDEDT T FU ON T WAY W t Tree Huded Viitors Go Out to the College Diner Seed By the Lady St dentTe Special Re turing Reached the Cit Early This Morning t yesterday was a gala day with the legislature and faculty and studen of the Agricultural college Through the courtesy of the Oregon Short Line railroad road officialS h specIal train was placed at the disposal of member of the legislature islature and their friends to bear the to Logan and return At 115 seven coaches fled wih senators representatives represen-tatives ofc s and employees of the legislature public officials leading edu ctors and prominent citizen let fo the north There was a goodly repre stton of the wive daughters and sweethearts of the legislators and ote otcials The company was congenial and the outward tip was made all but too quickly yet everyone was anxious to get to Logan The run northward was sigalze by thecnvening of the third house of the legislature Ample prepaations for the event had ieen made oy Sergeantat Arms King and Committee Clerk Johnson John-son assisted by Jake Stories chairman of the local option committee In the baggage car irrigation topic were dls cUSJed at intervals and between die cu ionsthe irrepressIble Lou Johnson passed through the passenger coaches dispensing fruIt and nuts These little courtesies we fully appreciated At 420 Logan wasrehed the delightful de-lightful trip having ben made in the short space of three hours Time quiche ln was rendered possible by engine No 400 wIth Engineer Wilson at the throttle and the splendid equipment O the road and train More peOIle had comE to Log tan wee expected and it required double trips for the ve lcle fo carr all of the 300 guests to the Agricultural college so hantingly situated on te bill overlooking looking the ci and beautiful valley But everybody was goodnatured over the trifling delay and soon the entire throng who had come to partake of the proverbial hospitality in the northern metropolis were within the college grounds When the last carriage oad had alighted Pres1dent J l Tanner bid the uestw Into the chapel and on behalf be-half ges trustees the faculty and the students tendered them a sincere welcome At Dr Tanners invitation the guests repaired to the dining hal in the order I named State officers and their ladies mhnsbers and officers of the state senate sen-ate and their ladies member and of cer of the house of heprseltatvs and their ladia visiting attaches of the state educational institutions press representatives and othe guests The dinner was mi epicure gem prelared and faultlessly sere by the young lay sudents After dinner Dr Tanner bId the guests to enjoy themselves them-selves by inspecting the college buildings build-ings and equipment and to trip the light fantastic by the strins of lively lgt music President W S 1IcCorick Sirs I F S Richards Mrs J E Bagley Sec retar Joseph E Wilson and Joseph NoTrci of the board o trustees assisted as-sisted Dr Tanner hd members of the I faculty 1n entertaining the legislative guests and students some 500 in num her were everywhere visible attending to the wants of the visitors At 1015 the return trIp was com menced Mr D S Spencer of the Short menc passefger department and Conductor Con-ductor McCunow who accompanied the accompane I train having generously extended the time of departure an hour and n Cuar I tel On the way back to Sal Lake orerybody fieely voted that the reception I r tile ee tion aceordcd the visitors at the AgrIcultural i AgrI-cultural college W3 more than royal and aU agreed that the states educational educa-tional institution was one of which the wnolepeople of Utah should feel justly proud and one that will be generously fOteed by the legislature the peoples rE rtaties The train arrive in Sal Lake at 130 this morning and through the courtesy cour-tesy of the Salt Lake City Railroad company cars were run till that hour for the accommodaton of the throng |
