Sug-gested As His Successor Basis of Representation I the Precinct and Cit Conventions District Committee Chairmen Named t David C Dunbars resignation as chairman of the Democratic city committee com-mittee was tendered and accepted at the meeting of the committee in Justice Jus-tice Pardees office last evening Mr Dunbars resignation was made necessary neces-sary by his continued ill health from rheumatism and he feared that because be-cause of this he would not be able to give he campaign his personal atten he tion Under these circumstances felt it his duty to resign The resignation resig-nation was presented by Secretary G B Blakely who presided over the meeting in Mr Dunbars absence Joseph Cohen said that while he regretted re-gretted this deeply as he knew the committee did still they owed a duty to their party which they could not shirk He therefore moved that the resignation be accepted and that the i secretary convey to Mr Dunbar in fitting I ting manner the deep regret of the committee for the illness that renders the resignation necessary The motion carried unanimously The matter of filling the vacancy was left after discussion dis-cussion to the next meeting Mr Dunbars Successor I No suggestion was made In the meeting meet-ing as to a successor to Mr Dunbar but W H Dale and E W Wilson have I been mentioned in this connection Mr Dale stated last night that he would absolutely refuse to consider the mat reuse ter Mr Wilson also stated that he I would decline the chairmanship There wer present at the meeting Justice Pardee from the First precinct William H Evans and Joseph Lewis I from the Second G A Gibbs and Joseph Jo-seph Raleigh from the Third Joseph 1 Cohen and Walter Jennings from the I Fourth Mr Blakely presided and G A Gibbs acted as secretary Appointment of Delegates The committee on appointment of delegates for the precinct and city conventions I con-ventions reported in favor of one delegate dele-gate to the i city convention for each j twenty or fraction of more than half of the votes cast two years ago for I Robert N BaskIn for justice of the supreme court and one delegate to I the precinct convention for each fifteen fif-teen or fraction of more than half of the votes cast at the same election I This report was adopted Folowingfi the apportionment of delegates I dele-gates to the city convention and to the precinct conventions one delegate being allowed to the city convention for every I twenty votes or major fraction and ore delegate to the precinct conventions for greater each fifteen votes or deciding that question i as important matters were expected to I come uf in the meantime Jacob Raleigh I Ra-leigh and Joseph Lewis urged immediate i I imme-diate action a It would require ten I i days to get the new city committee organized or-ganized and in working order for the I campaign I was finally decided on I motion of Walter Jennings that the chair appoint a committee of three to I fx the dates and secure a place for 1 holding the city convention Walter I j Jennings Jacob Raleigh and Joseph Lewis were appoInted the committee and instructed to report at the meeting Thursday eyening Fred J Leonard appeared before the committee and tendered the free use of the Salt Palace for the city convention conven-tion and guaranteed a seating capacity of 1000 The suggestion met with great favor
