Show MINISTER BLOUNT J TURN Ho is Expected in Washington at an Early Day WASHINGTON Aug 1 Minister Blonnt is expected in Washington soon As the Hawaiian situation stands at present a settlement of the annexation question will depend mainly on conferences confer-ences between the president Secretary Gresham and Minister Blount In his report Minister Blount according to his instructions made no recommendation on the vital point at issue but gave his opinion as to the relative strength of sentiment sen-timent in the islands with reference to the question of annexation to give the president and Secretary Gresham a better insight into the condition of affairs that they may be enabled to make recommendations recom-mendations to Congress Mr Blount will give his views verbally ver-bally and it is thought he may amplify in an unofficial way devoid of the possible possi-ble embarassment consequent upon the expression of such a plain opinion in an official document when he confers with the executive and diplomatic heads of the government Mr Blounts statement state-ment in San Francisco yesterday concerning con-cerning the mailing of his final report did not refer to the main report That document was mailed from Honolulu some time ago and is now in the possession posses-sion of the state department |
