Show HILL F AIL ON illS EO J1 Iii5 1 The Defaulting Cashier Is Placed in the Pen HIS WIFE SUES THE BANK c Demands an Accounting of the Amount Due from Her Husband The Indebtedness Was Originally Said to Be SGOOOO Which She Alleges Has Proves to Be but 8000A Defaulting Insurance Agent Arrested OGDEN Utah Aug 4Special Oscar E Hill late cashier of the Commercial Com-mercial National bank wastonighttaken wa tni bt tken to the penitentiary at Salt Lake by Deputy Marshal Exnm having failed to secure bonds to the amount of 16000 After hard work all of yesterday and today to-day he managed to get flOOOO and there stuck Several of the men who were on his other bond withdrew for the reason that they did not care to be examined a to their financial condition This afternoon after-noon Hill accompanied by his attorney went before the court and announced that ho had been unable to secure bonds and gave notice that he was ready to go to the penitentiary He was taken thereat there-at 6 oclock this evening Mrs Hill has begun suit in the district court against the Commercial National bank Examiner Adams and her husband for an accounting of the amount Hill in in the debt of the bank She alleges that at the time she transferred her property which included the family residence to the bank she did so for the reason that officials of the institution represented to her that her husband owed the Commercial Com-mercial some 6C000 and that his property prop-erty which was also transferred would 1 not liquidate the debt I The Investigation she says has revealed j re-vealed the fact that her husband does not 11 owe more than S000 which Is ample security se-curity by Hills property some of which is in California and of great value She J asks for an accounting and that Hills property sold to satisfy the debt and 4 i the amount derived is not sufficient she proposes to pay the balance but wants to retain her home and its contents con-tents The property is now in the hands i of the bank officials 1 I W F Nelson formerly in the employ 1 of Heber J Grant cc Company in their Ogden agency but recently in the insur once business for himself was last night arrested on an indictment charging him with the embezzlement of about 1000 of 11 his employers funds while in their employ I em-ploy Tonight he was released on 1000 bonds Nelson is said to have collected accounts of the company and made no accounting until his dishonorable work was discovered The young man and his friends say the matter will be adjusted 1 The board of education is looking i around for money with which to pay interest In-terest on its bonds for September dmounting to 2500 The treasury is about depleted and by the time the first j of the mohth arrives there will be nothing with which to pay the interest Just where to negotiate a loan is the serious question which now confronts the board |
