Show A New Those In the Alton Boycott CHICAGO April 13A new phase of the controversy between the Alton and eastern east-ern lines on the commission question is introduced in-troduced in a circular issued today by the passenger department of the Alton I is addressed t all connections and contains all the correspondence on the subject An interesting feature is a copy of a letter signed by General Solicitor Brown of the Alton declaring that in his opinion a number of railway companies have no legal right t combine together and take concerted action to interrupt the business of the Alton as a penalty for its refusal to enter into any contract with them Such a combination amounts in law to conspiracy con-spiracy He suggests I will be well for the management to notify each boycotting line of the purpose of the Alton to hold them legally responsible for consequences conse-quences of their action General Passenger Passen-ger Agent Canton notifies them accordingly accord-ingly that they will be held responsible for any damage which may result It remains to be seen what the eastern roads have to say to this argument I is rumored in railroad circles that tho Missouri Pacific will not bo represented at the meeting of the advisory board of the Western Traffic association tomorrow as Jay Gould is in the south west and VicePres ident Clark is in Oregon I the meeting is ignored by the company it can mean nothing noth-ing else than the dissolution of the association associa-tion at even an earlier date than was generally gen-erally predicted Tho charges of rate cutting cut-ting recently made against the Missouri Paciflcnverd ing to be investigated at the meet |
