IT is a somewhat amusing telegram which comes to Us from Detroit saying that Dr OWE S makes the announcement that he has completed a perfect BACON I cipher in SHAKESPEARES works Ho alleges that he has conclusive proof that BACOX wrote the plays and says ho will prove BACON murdered SHAKESPEARE Ho says be will go to England and find SHAKES CARES skull where the cipher says it can be found Dr OWENS has worked on the patter for many years and is a recognized SHAKESPERIAX scholar He s wealthy We will all be rlad if Dr O VEKS shall settlo this controversy not that a settlement will af feet anybody In the least for it can concern nobody whether BACON did or did not write the plays which have been credited to the immortal SHAKESPEARE Wo have the plays and neither BACON nor SHAKESPEARE SHAKES-PEARE can take them away nor can either get them copyrighted But the funny part of the telegram Is the assertion by Dr O VENB that BACON murdered SHAKESPEARE SHAKES-PEARE an alleged fact which he proposes to f prove As SHAKESPEARE has been mur dered every week for the past two hun f dred and fifty years and by hundreds of men and some women dont we see why I Mr BACON should be singled out for special condemnation for murdering him
