| Show Promote Confidence I In the midst of the scares and calamities of the past few weeks which are not new I by any means either to this country or to others it is gratifying to know that so few failures have occurred in Utah Those that have taken place are peculiar in this that in almost every instance they I collapsed with assets in excess of thnr liabilities The pressure of certain debts that had to be met and the failure of making collections to meet them forced the issue and compelled them to close Our Salt Lake banks are in a sound and stable condition There need be no fear with depositors Of course people must have money to carry on their affairs but they neednot make rush for it in fear that they will not get it unless they take time by the forelock Many solvent firms in the east and the west have had to suspend because of the panic which has prompted a run upon them too great for them to stand up under We hope there will be no such foolishness foolish-ness here If people will go about their I business in the ordinary way try to be generous with others pay cash for what I they get so far as possible keep their heads level and not close up their hearts or their pockets Salt Lake will be preserved pre-served from the financial rashes of other places and no one will materially suffer Sensible people in these shaky times endeavor to inspire others with confidence confi-dence There have been financial disasters disas-ters before The world is not going to everlasting smash Times will improve after a while Nothing will be gained by fear or impetuousity And it will be found that the best way to avoid any I disaster to trade or finance is to make the best of the situation keep business moving preserve a cheerful spirit and avoid complaining Times were never made better by growling and money cannot can-not be made freer by hoarding The rebound re-bound is coming dont hinder it by stinginess stin-giness and fright |
