Show Sons of St Georc The Sons of St George wili hold their next meeting at the Templo of Honor hall on Wednesday July 19 at S oclock prompt The lodge is now open for the sir Knights to bring in all the names they c can procure as candidates for membership member-ship special inducements being heldout for that purpose duringthe present hard times so that all Englishmen may siez 2 jtliifi opportunity and come and join theIr countrymen in helping one another to form one ot the strongest organizations cr ills America Union is strength cilia i I II D o p z alone cannot do much but a great many can help one poor unfortunate to recover the lost ground that cannot be done without with-out assistance The order Sons of St George insti ated for this purpose that is to help those who cannot help themselves As a natural consequence a large majority of the membership consists of men who earn their own living by the sweat of their brow Many a man with a family depending upon him for support often finds the demands upon his purae in excess cess of the supply His intention to save a little money against the time of need is good enough but the weeks months and years roll by aud still no bank carries an account to his credit By and by he is sick no longer able to work sickness Is rendered more hard to bear because the dear wife and little ones are entirely depending de-pending upon him and he is unable to help either himself or them Soon the inevitable comes and he is gathered to his fathers the loved ones left behind are grieved and troubled beyond measure because they are unable to give the dear lost husband and father proper and respectable burial This is a dark picture pic-ture but of not infrequent occurrence In view of all this it is urged on all to come and join the order Sons of St George so that when the cloudy day of ffliction comes it shall not find them dependent upon cold unsympathetic unsym-pathetic charity but instead of that the sympathizing hearts and willing hands of their own countrymen country-men will attend to their necessities bringing them that which they have made provisions for while in health against the day of necessity This is why the lodge has thrown out the extra inducements ucements for all to come and join at one half the usual entrance fee which is all under 50 years of age for 5 being half ho regular fee for those from 40 to 50 these terms to continue as long as the members of the lodge wish to let it remain re-main so Several applications for mem ership are now on the table Let each sir knight do his share in the good work by bringing one more and at the end of the term or before that the hard times will take a turn for the better and the order Sons of St George will be in a more flourishing condition than it has ever been yet |
