Show SOMEBODY LIED Contradictory Testimony in n South Cot tomvond Battery Case The case of Felix Roberts charged with battery upon the person of George Huffa ker occupied Commissioner Greenmans attention during the greater part of yesterday yes-terday afternoon The parties were all residents of South Cottonwood precinct and the case had been brought here on a change of venue It appeared from the evidence that the complaining witness and the defendant met at Millers mill on April 3 The defendant de-fendant called Hufiaker a very vile name and hostilities then began without further ceremony and resulted in Huffaker being sorely punished D 0 Eichnor prosecuted and F W Wheeler defended The evidence was of a rather conflictory nature and Mr Eichnor his argument to the court declared very dramatically in substance that some of the witnesses for the defense wouldnt recognize Dame Truth if they were to meet her in the roadWeeeler Weeeler said nothing until his turn came and then he declared that the complaining com-plaining witness in the case was the most accomplished liar he had ever seen and 1 also charged Eichnor with having warped the testimony I When Commissioner Greenmans inning in-ning came he commented briefly on the case and fined the defendant 56 and costs which was paid instanter Pardoned by the President George Godfrey who was sent up from Ogden eighteen months for adultery on October 17 1892 has been pardoned by President Cleveland and was released from the penitentiary yesterday retroritsUy Convicted Abraham Petrovitsky was convicted in Commissioner Pratts court yesterday of assaulting Ben Steinman and a fine of 5 and costs amounting in all to 2060 was imposed |
