Whereas The Hartford Conn board of I trade unanimously adopted a preamble and resolutions res-olutions introduced by Colonel Jacob L Green president of the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance In-surance company of that city tue same beingS being-S composed of false statements designed to injure in-jure and oppress the cause of sliver and mislead mis-lead the masses of the people and I Whercts Such infamous falsehoods are propagated for the sole and only purpose of blinding the borrowing classes and inflating in-flating the rate of interest that has fattened audi corporations as the Connecticut Mutual Mu-tual Life Insurance company aforesaid end Whereas ihe people of the west have for forty years paid tribute to the east in a high I and exorbitant rate of Interest on securities leased on the development of the productive industries in-dustries of the west and further based on the product of the laboring classes now therefore be it Resolved That it is the sense of this body ic meeting assembled that such action on the part of the said Connecticut Mutual Lite Insurance S company and the Hartford Conn board of trade is ruinously hostile to the vital interests of the west and to interests of the labeling classes generally and Resolved That we not only condemn such methods but unqualifiedly condemn the selfish and monopolistic policy of the Hartford board of trcde and the Connecticut MutualLife Insurance Insur-ance company and advise our friends ana tbe t friends and supporters of bimetallism that to patronize this latter company Is to contribute I strength to the coming meetingS meeting-S THE CRAWFORD ESTATE Byron Sessions today filed his bond of 575000 as receiver of the estate of William k Wil-liam Crawford the wealthy rancher whose mysterious disappearance from Evanston two months ago is still puzzling the entire country Last week Sessions presented the bond for approval but as several of his sureties were strangers the court refused to accept it and the receiver was forced to obtain additional bondsmen in the persons i per-sons of Davis county and Salt Lake city bankers and business men Sessions left for the Crawford ranch in Rich county tonight i S to-night and will at once assume control of ail property belonging to the estate of the missing man Under the provisions of the order appointing the receiver the latter is authorized to expend money in his possession in the search for Crawford and a systematic search will be at once instituted It was thought there I would be a great controversy when the I receiver demanded a transfer of the property i prop-erty but acting under instructions I from Marshal Benton Deputy St John I of this department who is holding the ranch under the Thompson attachment will turn over the estate upon evi-dently from Chicago was arrested by the police today charged with forgery and held to the grand jury in bonds of f bOOt He was taken to the pen tonight Early this afternoon King entered the jewelry store of J D Lewis Co ana after making a number of purchases proffered a f 1050 check drawn by C H King on flip Kvanstan Wvo National bank and endorsed by H F Babe the well known saloon man Upon investigation the endorsement was found to be a forgery and King was arrested Several other checks drawn upon the some bank i and with the same endorsement were I found in the possession of the prisoner He claimed to have won them at poker but he gave the snap away by adding that I he filled them out himself King is a I member of the Brotherhood of Railway Telegraphers and order of Knights silverware silver-ware and wearing apparel were jerked up bv the police this morning An officer will reach here tomorrow for the prisoners pris-oners GRIFFIN AGAIN TV TROUBLE On Friday Joseph Brown alias Griffin Brennan and Malone was released re-leased from the Salt Lake county jail and on the afternoon of the saMe day ho celebrated by robbing the Bountiful postoffice of f40 and then came on to Ogden where he proceeded to spend part of the money Late Saturday I I evening he was arrested on suspicion and Sunday forenoon was released on a promise prom-ise to leave town Last night Mavshal Metcalf was notified by Chief Paul of Salt Lake of the robbery and Brown was soon behind the bars He was taken to Bait Lake today Brown is one of the worst criminals the Utah officials have had to deal with they have nearly all had their turn He is a decidedly dangerous mau and has a record HIGH WATER IN THE WEBER High water in the Weber river is threatening the new steel bridge at the foot of
