Show RETURNED HOME I I President Joseph F Smiths View on the Issues in Utah i President Joseph F Smith of the First j Presidency returned to this city on Monday Mon-day evening and has kept busy receiving I tho congratulations of his friends yesterday I yester-day Mr Smith baa not been seen here since 18S5 when an indictment for unlawful I unlaw-ful cohabitation was found against him I Since that tine he has been in the Sandwich Sand-wich Islands and Mexico and has also done I some work in Arizonia Colorado California Califor-nia Oregon and this territory In expressing I express-ing his views on the situation in Utah President Smith said I 1 can say without any reservation that I I am in harmony with the views of all the other members of the Mormon church I J J I accept without any dissent the stand taken I by President Woodruff in his manifesto and the endorsement given it by the 1 general conference I occupy a similar position po-sition on the question of division on national I I na-tional party lines When the Peoples narty was organized it was for the purpose pur-pose of giving expression to the opinions of j I the majority When tho majority was overthrown in Weber and Salt Lake counties coun-ties it was no longer necessary or expedient that the party organization organIza-tion should bo maintained As far as my personal opinion is of weight I believe the Peoples party is dead beyond resurrection and I do not think it would be advisable to bring it to life i that were possible |
