| Show THE FORAKER SPEECH I In the Republican clubs convention exGovernor FORAKKR spoke of Mr BLAINI giving a magnificent administration tion and this gave such offense to some Hoosier delegate present that he proposes that the Indianians shall take some action in the nature of a repudiation of the Ohio politicians remark The Hoosier Republicans Republi-cans should let the matter drop FORAKER is given to shooting off his mouth without with-out due regard for the object aimed at but in this instance we are inclined to thinK that he weighed his words carefully and spoke advisedly That he spoke tho sentiments senti-ments of his hearersall rank Republicans was evidenced by the fact that his words were heartily cheered by the convention conven-tion < If the Indiana Republicans are clever politicians they will keep quiet and by their silence try to induce people to forget the incident I f they agitate the matter they will simply call attention to the two men BLAINE and HARms and the result will be mOle odious comparisons This administration has not been strikingly strik-ingly magnificent in any respect and so far FORAKERS eulogy was boastful and out of place but in everything suggestive of brilliance the hand of BLAINE rather than that of the President may be traced No amount of home praise can elevate Mr HARRISON to the level of Mr BLAINE in those things which the Americans admire in their public men and all the assertion in the world cannot give to the Indianian the the brain and ability which everybody concedes con-cedes to the man from Maine When FORAKER spoke as he did he expected ex-pected to bring down the house and he was not disappointed He was applauded because all save only the delegates from Indiana thought precisely as he did Naturally it is annoying to the personal friends of the President when man talk like FORAKER but that cant be helped and the best way to treat the matter is to say nothing aoout it |
