Show KINDERGARTEN EXERCISES The Little Tots at Rowland Hall Give an Entertainment The closing exercises of the kindergarten kindergar-ten class of Rowland hall were held yesterday terday forenoon in the institution About twentyfive of the little tots ranging rang-ing from three to six years of age took part in the exercises and over a hundred of their parents and friends were present Miss Bertha Robinson the principal of the kindergarten department opened the proceedings with invocation The children engaged a musical pro gramme of nineteen numbers of kindergarten Kinder-garten sones etc the most notable of which were CIrhe Trades Song Away Away Among the Blossoms Lovely May Ohl Where Are the Merry Merry Little Men to Help Me Today and The Flower Song all of which were very prettily rendered The Flower Song was given in quite a picturesque way all the children having baskets of choice flowers which they waved aloft keeping time with the rythm of the song Then followed the exhibition of the work done by the pupils during the past term consisting of artificial flowers paper cutting and fOlding weaving drawing and fancywork fancy-work Next came a marching and drill exhibition led by May Dutton and Charley Carr Kindergarten games hammering shoes farmer games etc Before closing each child presented a asket of its own making filled with flowers to its parents whilst all sang an appropriate ditty The proceedings closed with dances songs etc after which Mrs Dutton took photographs of the children arranged ar-ranged in groups on the lawn The rooms were beautifully decorated with flowers and many devices all the work of the little ones The vacation will extend over three months the school reassembling Sept 6 under the same teachers An Alumni Reunion The reunion of the alumni of the Collegiate legiate institute last evening was a very pleasant affair It was held in the basement base-ment of the First Presbyterian church Among those present were noticed Mrs VlcVicker a former teacher in the insti tution also Dr Millspaugh who was at the head of the Collegiate institute for seven years and is now the superintendent superin-tendent of the city schools and Mr Charles Short of the class of 85 The latter gentleman is principal of one of the schools of Park City The evening was spent in social conversation con-versation The refreshments were an enjoyable joyable feature and evidently much appreciated ap-preciated The institute was founded in 75 and supported by scholarships donated by Presbyterian churches in the east It has had an average annual attendance 250 for many years Royle the actor and playwright is numbered among its alumni Ed Critchlow is also pointed to with pride as one ol our toysI |
