Show UTAH BEEKEEPERS The Convention Acts Upon the I New Bill A standard by Which Honey Shall be Sold Is Adopted and Freight Bates Are DlEECussed The regular semiannual session of the Utah Beekeepers association was held yesterday yes-terday at the rooms of the Stone and Brlck taaions over tho Western Union telegraph ofLce on Main streoe At 10 a m President Huntington called I the session to order and after prayer by German Ellsworth Mr J C bwaner the secretary called the roll and the following follow-ing members responded to their names Henry Taufer Jos Woodmansco J Caner C-aner Joshua Ferry E S Lovesy Salt Lake A B Hnntlngton A B Thomas a Peterson J C McClellan Enoch Lud low George Hone German Ellsworth Gus bwensoD Henry Hone R S Belts B Peay Utah Wlllard Bishop W E Smith Willard Crogun Davis R T Rhees C O Folkmann Weber Thos Beliston H C L Jorgenson Thos Vickers Vick-ers Joel Bascom of Juab Joshua Clark Ltooeie The committee appointed to confer with members of the legislative assembly reported re-ported the action of that body ana pre ented the Act relating to boo culture which was read at length and the commlt ee discharged after tho allowance of a bLl r of SL25 for typewriting expense The subject of extracting comb honey and the manner of putting up the same was discussed at some length by Messrs Taylor Swaner Huntington Peterson and Thomas and the association took a recess until p m Afternoon On reassembling in the afternoon the secretary submitted Co report on the sub ject of freight rates which was received and filed S The act relating to bee culture was then taken up and discussed by the members mem-bers generally the question of taxation nd duties of the inspector receiving f special attention MEASURED SWEETNESS Mr Swaner presented the following resolution which was adopted Resolved That the 4j x4jxi7i section bo adopted by this association as the standard section and that hereafter honey shall be sold by such standard in place of by weicht and that no tare be allowed on cans glass or any packages except wooden unless the buyer furnIsh the same On motion the chair appointed Henry Taufer R T Rhees and Joseph Wood manseo as a committee to confer with tho Worlds Columbian exposition commissioners commis-sioners of Utah in regard to a representation representa-tion of tae beo industry at Chicago in 1SU3 Aspecial committee consisting of R T Rees German Ellsworth and John Parley I S S S s was appointed to obtain rates upon can pnokagesf SOn S-On motion the secretary was requested to publish the act of tholast assembly relating re-lating to bee culture in the Intelmountain and theJassociation adjourned to meet October I Oc-tober Tig92 |
