Show FROM THE GARDEN CITY i BUSINESS TRANSACTED IV TIE DISTRICT COURT YESTERDAY I I Feared TIm the BnllillnK In Which the Court Room Is Situated Situ-ated Is Unsafe Provo March 31 Judge Smith has been busily engaged today with dec sions and motions and much minor business was transacted In the case of James Mason vs A E Liinkliter 7180 costs were retaxed to plaintiff Jennie Steward was granted divorce from her husband Claude Steward on the grounds ot failure to provide The demurrer to the complaint in the case of Samuel Curtis vs the Rio Grande Western Railway company was overruled and defendant was given ten days in which to answer In the matter of William Lewis vs J R Mooney et a1 certiorari proceedings proceed-ings from the justices court of Spanish Span-ish Fork action was dismissed acton William H Patten vs Thomas Top han demurrer to plaintiffs complaint was days sustained to answer and plaintiff given five In the case of J C McCord vs Wed ter Moore plaintiffs motion for judgment judg-ment on the pleadings was denied The case of the People vs J J Booth was dismissed on motion of the district attorney and ordered submitted submit-ted to the next grand jury This morning when the court convened con-vened attention was called to the condition con-dition of the building which from general gen-eral appearances seemed to be ery unsafe Court has been held in the ReedSmoot block since last summer and I the apartments were fixed up especially es-pecially for court quarters One part of the building joins onto the Eldridge block on the north side and the latter building forms the north wall of the Smoot block I begins now to look as though the Smoot building was springing away from the Eldridge block with every indication of a crash I is thought that this is due to the vast throng that daily crowded the hallway and the court room during the Van Patten homicide case Judge Smith today thought i best not to occupy the court room until the building build-ing was inspected so today he has held forth in his chambers in The Eldridge block I is expected that an inspector inspec-tor will be down tomorrow rom Salt Lake Mr Smoot thinks the building is all safe and that there is no danger dan-ger dayA l M Kellogg went to Salt Lake to A T Schroeder was down from Salt Lake today on legal business D H Peery jr went to Ogden today to-day |
