governors proclamation declaring declar-ing Darlington and Florence counties in insurrection is as follows Whereas certain persons have assembled as-sembled In the counties of Darlington and Florence and are now in rebellion against the authority of the government govern-ment of this state and i has become impracticable to enforce by ordinary course of judicial proceedings the law of the state within said counties now therefore I B E Tillman governor of the state of South Carolina do proclaim pro-claim such persons so assembled to be in open rebellion against the laws of the state and I do hereby command all such asemblages of insurgents to disperse dis-perse and retire peaceably to their respective re-spective abodes within twentyfour hours Done at Columbia S C this 31st da of March A D 1894 B E TLI1MAN Governor Seal By the governor J E Tin dull Secretary of State Judge Watts of the state supreme court has granted an injunction against the Western Union Telegraph company Manager Gray restraining him from accepting messages for transmission trans-mission on the Darlington trouble unless un-less sent by state authorities The injunction in-junction was served at 7 oclock Manager Gray has referred the matter mat-ter to the New York authorities who will probably instruct him to receive and send all The al messages governor i is declared will take possession of the office If the order of Judge Watts is not complied with I was given out today that requests were sent to Charleston asking for bloodhounds to aid in the search but they could not be secured The governor gover-nor has had a train out fortyeight hours trying to get men to assist him and protect his constables C The Bishopville Guards were sent here about 2 oclock today on a special The sheriff was notified to meet them at the depot which he did The cap tain told him he was instructed to report re-port to a state constable here The sheriff replied that he thought it doubtful about finding one here except ex-cept the wounded man who is in jail This company remained here five minutes and departed The sheriff asked them to stay and protect the wounded constable but it seems they did not relish the undertaking Dispensaries Destroyed Mobs have destroyed the dispensaries at Timmonsville Florence and other places in the northern part of South Carolina and one in Darlington will share a like fate
