| Show THE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH The Dediraioa Is Delated Awaiting the Completion of the New Organ The new Congregational church building on East First South street is ready for the seats and the new structure is sufficiently advanced to judge of its character On entering the audience room the first impression is tho cozy appearance of the auditorium the walls closing in anq crowding crowd-ing tho seating space This is emphasized by the roof fitting over the bandbox shaped auditorium like a concave lid Tha pulpit or speaking platform is in the corner cor-ner and the pews vU be set in curves forming the arcs of circles But the Cramped impression he deceiving and what appears to be a small seating space will accommodate ac-commodate a great many people for there is no waste room the odd corners having been lopped off The idea was to get rid of all waste space with a view of condensing the audience as much as possible This will make it an easy room to speak in andRe and-Re Thrall can reach the ears of his audi coca without pumping hIs lungs and indulging in-dulging in thundering tones I The pretty feature of the building is the stained glass work and it has never been our privilege to see anything more delightfully delight-fully exquisite than the effects of the sunshine sun-shine stealing throueh the soft tints of green affording as many varieties as one can see in the glens of Ireland during a day of alternating rain and sunshine The wood work is just as neat as it can be and the little balcony reminds one of the cozy Lyceum theatre in New York The entire effect harmonious and pleasing The Holster memorial window will be more expensive and elaborate than thb one in the south wall which it is to replace Tho church was now nearly ready for dedication but this will be postponed owing to the delay in the completion of tho organ Tho new instrument I to cost 5IU0 and if the builders keep their promise it will be the lineal in the intermountain inter-mountain country There are more expensive ex-pensive organs in some of the Denver churches and it will not approach the tabernacle organ in size While n will not have as many pipes as the tabernacle instrument in-strument it has some modern improvements improve-ments by which the effect is greatly increased in-creased and the builders promise that it shall be the best in the intermountain I country tTho Congregationalists can congratulate themselves that they will have the coziest house to worship in in the city I |
