Show Friday Rites Set For Bertha Muir k Bertha Ledingham Muir, age 87, of Bountiful, died Saturday at the Brigham City Community Hospital. She was born Dec. 10, 1893 in Woods Cross, a daughter of John S. and Bertha Wittenberg Ledingham. She married Frank B. Muir Sept. 8, 1915 in Bountiful. He died Jan. 20, 1952. MRS. MUIR taught in Davis County schools for five y ears. She graduated from normal school oftheU.ofU. in 1912; a Red Cross executive secretary for 13 years, and a correspon- dent for the Davis County Clipper until last June. Her hobbies were people, family, yard, book review s and writing about her country. She held many LDS Church positions. She was active in the Federated Feder-ated Women's Club, Bay View Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Au-xiliary, Just-A-Mere Club and others. She wrote "A Pioneer Song, published in "Our Pioneer Heritage." Her poem "Red Poppies" won the American Amer-ican Legion Auxiliary State Contest and her essay on "Essay On Trees in Utah" won first place in the Federated Feder-ated Women's Club contest. She also wrote the words for the song "Dear Little Home in the Mountains" which has been sung many times. HONORS BESTOWED on her include Club Woman of the Year and Davis County Mother of the Year by Davis County Federated Women's Club; Club Woman of the Year for 1973 by Bountiful Business and Professional Club; recipient reci-pient of the Exchange Club BERTHA MUIR Book of Golden Deeds Award in 1975; Outstanding Citizen Award received from Bounti-ful's Bounti-ful's mayor in 1980. She is survived by a son and two daughters, Max L. Muir, Brigham City; Mrs. Wallace E. (Marjorie) Hess, Salt Lake Cit-y; Cit-y; Mrs. Vard (Merrilyn) Dal-ley, Dal-ley, Layton; brothers, Clarence Clar-ence B. Ledingham and George E. Ledingham, Ogden, Ut.; sister, Ruth Ledingham. Spanish Fork, Ut.; 14 grandchildren grand-children and 22 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. FUNERAL serices will be held June 26 in the Bountiful Tabernacle at 1 1 a.m. Viewing in Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main. June 25 6-8 p.m. and at the church 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment in the Bountiful City Cemetary. |
