Show Luke Acquitted The case filed somo time ago by Emil C Brown against F G Luke charging him with running a lottery came up for hearing before a jury in Judge Bishops court yesterday morning morn-ing at 11 oclock A number of witnesses were examined and the case was hotly argued by Attorney E M Allison for the prosecution and L R Ropers for the defendant the case was concluded about 4 oclock in the afternoon and in a few minutes the jury brought in a verdict of not guilty Mr Luke is the knitting factory man and is I conducting a number of clothing clubs by which means he is each week disposing of over a dozen suits of clothes r Lukes manner of conducting the clubs although by means of drawings each week is far from being a lottery ns every party goins1 into them is sure of getting get-ting a su t of clothes It is said the tailors of Ogden believing Mr Luke was injuring their business to a great extent ex-tent by running the clubs endeavored to establish estab-lish the charge against him Mr Luke was seen last evening and altnough he says he anticipated an-ticipated a result as it is he seems to feel much elated and intends to establish several mmti clubs the coming week |
