OCR Text	Show Purchases of Silver WASHINGTON Sept 5The amount of silver offered to the treasury today was 1077000 ounces The amount purchased was 250000 at 11720 to S11737J < The secretary of the treasury after consultation with the director of the mint has decided that he will purchase under the new law 280000 ounces of silver between August 13 and September 30 so as to start at October Octo-ber with the purchase of 4500000 ounces per month Todays purchases make the total 4500859 ounces since the law went into effect
