This includes expanded ex-panded display cases, complete service delicatessen, delicates-sen, in-store bakery, pharmacy, phar-macy, photo and gift, service center, modern meat storage, automated packaging equipment, equip-ment, expanded refrigerated produce and meat cases, the latest designed easy-to-reach frozen food and dairy display cases trimmed in attractive colors and modern decor. This store also contains many expanded non-foods, reading center, another special area has been reserved for flowers and decorative foliage plants and variety department. THE STORE has an ultramodern ultra-modern sanitary meat preparation room, with ceramic tile floor, fiber glass walls, completely enclosed and refigerated to maintain a perfect control temperature at all times. An in-store bakery will enhance the interior decor which will produce many of those favorite tasty confectionary goodies. This new Safeway Store is equipped for ease in truck unloading, with a recessed, enclosed, truck unloading dock, which will allow rapid unloading of deliveries in all types of weather. Electric power-driven jacks will be used to lift loaded pallets of merchandise from the trucks to the stock room. ENVIRONMENTAL concerns con-cerns have been a major factor fac-tor in the design of this new facility. A baling machine will enable store personnel to recycle all surplus cardboard through a Safeway program established for this purpose. Energy needs are reduced by use of a heat reclaim system The new Safeway store, which is a combination of the old Safeway store and some additional buildings, will be officially opned next week. Store manager, Lyle LeFevre, checks a hardware display. by recycled heat produced by refrigeration cases in order to heat the store in cold weather this can be supplemented by other heat when necessary. In warmer months, cold air spillage from these same display cases will be recaptured recap-tured to cool the store. THE STORE'S management manage-ment team is led by Lyle LeFevre, a Safeway executive with 14 years experience. Other members of the management team are Scott Heart and Pat Walton, assistant assis-tant managers; Jay Michael-son, Michael-son, grocery department manager; Herb Goldhardt, produce manager; Steve Burke, meat department manager; Kjell Bjorge, bakery department manager; Steven Louis, delicatessen department manager; and Charles BeCroft, head pharmacist. |
