Show ro MEET HIS FATE Kemmlers Execution to Take Place Soon THE WORKINGS OP THE DYNAMO Sirs Durstons Departure Letter From Ills BrotherTomorrow is Probably the Day of His Death Special to THE HEHALP Examiner Dispatch AVEURN N Y Aug 4Tbe most sig nili ant fact t be recorded today in connection con-nection with the Kcmmler case is the departure de-parture of Mrs Durston from Auburn She said at the time Kemmler wes pr paring par-ing to die before the last arpsal was made that she would not stay in prison while William vas being killed She went away very suddenly after the warden returned from New York and local gossips think this is proof sufficient that Kemmler will meet his fate soon perhaps today All day long no word has come from the prison except that Kemmler is well Nobody has been allowed to enter the prison It is current talk that the warden has niade np his mind to shuffle off Kemm lers mortal coils Justus soon as the law will permit and most people here think that Kemmler will not live beyond Monday night The warden has denied that he went to New York to see Governor Hill to ask if the latter would delay the execution Governor Gov-ernor Hill has said ho will not interfere and Durston may take it into his head to electrocute Kemmler before the law can be invoked cither by writ of tic lunatico inqucr cndo or by injunction restraining the use of the Westinghouse dynamo Durston is avery a-very determined man and feels keenly tne criticisms on his action when the last appeal ap-peal was taken He kept everybody in the dark then and seems hardly to know himself him-self what he should do now Ho will try to correct the impression made on public men and settle Kemmler with dispatch and little talk The warden may admit the persons connected with the press associations to witness the execution and they will go in as members of thejury but none of the special representatives repre-sentatives of individual newspapers vP1 be admitted to the jai on that day One N iv York evening paper has a platform twenty feet from tho ground telegraph pole directly di-rectly across from the prison A long distance dis-tance wire will connect tne watcher jon the pole with the office of his paper in New York Ho can see nothing though except the bare wall of the prison The Last Communication Between the Brothers AUBURN N Y Aug 4This afternoon a postman carried into the prison a registered tered letter addressed to W M Kemmler The postmark was from Philadelphia and upon the envelope were written the words from your brother Henry Kemnner Doubtless this communication was thought by the writer to be and probably would be the last to pas between lo two brpth ri 4 rifcfiockdtlite nftcnpanWarden 1DifrSttfiatrflUtmAbSociatel reporter that the execution wQuld not take place within twentyfour hours Bearing upon this point is a personal dispatch received in this city from Buffalo stating that the invited witnesses to execution had been asked to bo present in Auburn at 7 oclock Tuesday evening Judging from those facts the people are divided in their opinion opin-ion as to whether Kemmler will die to morrow mor-row or upon Wednesday evening Doubtless Doubt-less note people here are of the belief that Wednesday morning will be the time of the execution I executon |
