Show Another Heading ThIs Way The Denver Colorado Canon and Pacific railroad company has filed articles of incorporation incor-poration with the secretary of state W B Chamberlin Frank M Blown John C Montgomery Phillip Feldhauser Tohn Hurlbut Benjamin B Lawrence and Samuel Sam-uel S Hooper are the incorporators Theme The-me of road will extend says the Denver News from Grand Junction Mesa county down the Grand river to its Junction with tile Green river in Utah thence down the Clor1do river as nearly as possible upon I the water grade to be hereafter established through Utah Nevada California and Arizona ona to the city of Yuma in the latter territory terri-tory thence to the mouth of the Colorado river at a point where it empties into the Gulf of California and by the most feasible route to the city of San Diego and to Los Angeles and San Francisco The company also proposes to build a line of road from the junction of the Green and Jrand rivers running northward un the valley of the Green by the most feasible route to form a junction with the line of the Union Pacific railroad company as already constructed in Wyoming and from the city of Grand Junction to the coal fields near Newcastle in Garfield county The capital stock of the company is < tt000OOJ with headquarters in Denver and branch offices in New York and Boston The proposed route for the new line is a river route all the w aj from Grand Junction to Yuma whence it runs across southern California If San Francisco is one of the objective points the line is certainly very roundatout and it can hardly be considered that this part at least will ever be built Vhile the company is apparently independ Cut it is at once apparent that the road would be very advantageous to the Rio Grande which has its western terminus at Grand Junction Still more advantageous would be the line to Newcastle where would connect with a part of the Rio Grande which ultimately will be the through broad gauge line to the west run ng through Lea yile and Glenwood Springs The line is also substantially on the route surveyed by the Union Pacific though the latter contemplated starting from Frisco on the Utah Central and proposed to leave the Colorado river at or near the Needles The San Diego Cuvamaca and Eastern also proposed to follow nearly the same course as the Union Pacific survey The incorporators of the new company have made no statement as to their intention and with so many new companies in the field it is hard to tell which will really build but it is quite probable that the three mentioned will form links in a system of roads from Denver to the Pacifio coast |
