conference on the subject to be held by leaders of various parties I A Big Blow NEW YORK July 17The air was very close this morning Towards noon heavy clouds filled the sky and without with-out any warning a terrible windstorm set in Thousands of people out for a days pleasure were caught in the rush of the wild elements Trees were torn up by the roots in Central Park and the Battery wooden fence around Castle Garden south side was blown down On Sixtyfirst Avenue two trees were torn up by the roots and carried some distance along the river front and bay The storm raged with great fury Hundreds of small sail boats and other small boats were out and the occupants experienced much difficulty in making safe landing Police boats at once steamed out on the bay to rescue unfortunates un-fortunates The crew rescued about thirty occupants at sail boats As far as can be learned at 9 p m no one was drowned but it is probable that drownings have occurred Dr Cyrus Edson of the health loads of Australian wool from Victoria B C to Boston and other points on the Atlantic seaboard This wool was until this season brought in vessels to American ports on the Pacific Pa-cific and shipped over the Northern Pacific Pa-cific railroad to Boston and other ports The Dominion government will send a commissioner to Asia for the purpose = of promoting trade with Canada and China and Japan All
