Show BORING FOR WATER Committee Appointed by the City Council 1 AT WORK IS CITY REEK CANYON The Utah Improvement and Construction Company Eeal Estate Transfers Yesterday Tho committee appointed by the council at its session a fortnight ago to visit City Creek caflorrand select a suitable location for another tunnel to be run into the his for 500 feet went on their mission yesterday yester-day morning The party was made up of Mayor Armstrong Recorder Wells Surveyor Sur-veyor Fox Engineers Jacobs and Brooks Aldermen McCornick and Sharp and Councilor Coun-cilor Roberts After an examination of the various points which appeared practicable it was decided tat the tunnel be located seven miles up the cafion just below the big spring Tho tunnel is to be run so as to cut across the formation The work of running the tunnel will be lot by contract to the lowest bidder Bids will bo solicited just as soon as action is taken on the matter by the city council which will probably be at its meeting this evening It is tho intention to push the work as rapidly us possible The tunnels which have already been run are flowing considerablewater and were satisfactory to the city officials and since as one of them remarked yesterday one gallon of water added to City creek is worth two or three to any other stream because it is so situated that no one derives benelt there from but the city and its location is much more desirable it has been deemed advisable advis-able to continue the tunneling Work has ceased on one tunnel but a number of workmen are still engaged on the upper ono Tho party found about six incIses of snow up the cafion Improvement and Construction Company A copy of tho articles of incorporation of the Utah Improvement and Construction Constructon companywas fed with the territorial secretary sec-retary yesterday The place of carrying on the business and the general and financial finan-cial office of the company is at Ogden The object business and pursuit of this corporation is and shall be the improvement improve-ment andreclamation of lands for others and the cultivation thereof by way of digging dig-ging wells building and constructing canals and irrigating ditches with their necessary appurtenances contracting to build railroads depots stations station houses hotels opera houses factories and other industrial structures and to do and carry on generally a contracting contract-ing and construction business to take receive buy sell and dispose of stocks shares in joint stock companies and mines ores metals and notes mortgages bonds and other securities either in its own behalf or for others to own and hold all such fixtures and appliances as may be necessary for the business intended and to dispose of the same and to own and hold all such real estate and personal property as may be necessary and proper to carryon carry-on said business The capital stock of the incorporation is fixed at 3000 divided into fifty shares of the par value 1i SIUO each subscribed for as follows Shares I W B Farr 10 A II Swann 10 Myron Hume n 10 George V Seevers 10 F W Larrentz 10 The corporation is officered as follows George W Seevers president W B Farr vicepresident and treasurer and F W Lafrentz secretary and these with the additionxjfltlraothor stockholders form tho board of directors |
