Show COUPLE CAUGHT In a Suspicious Position by the Deputies BOTH PLACED UNDER BONDS The Development Before the Com mlsRiuner Today Will be Awaited With Cariosity Quite a little breeze of sensation was caused yesterday morning by the visit of Deputies Cannon and Franks to a boarding and lodging house near the Methodist Church on Third South Street and the arrest there in one room and some say in the same pedof a woman who gave her name a Lizzie Purnaau and Bud Robinson Robinson will be remembered as the young fellow fel-low who was refused entrance to a ball at Bingham some time ago and whoin endeavoring to force an entrance PULLED A PISTOL and shot a young man in the leg He was indicted for assault with intent to klI and the case is now pending in the District Court The woman in the case carries several names and has gained a reputation indifferent in-different parts of this Territory and elsewhere that does not at all redound to her credit She is known as Pnrbam hut yesterday cashed a money order which bore the name of Wier It is said she has been married several times She is rather prepossessing in appearance and well though not over dressed From what could bp learned yesterday it appears that tiobiuson bad been rooming at the home mentioned above and had askei the landlady if she had a spare room she could let him have She replied that she had not that her house wa full and the incident passed from he mind Late Saturday evening a man called at the house and asked if a lady whose appearance tallied exactly WITH THE WOMAN who appeared in court yesterday was stopping there He was answered in the negative and an inquiry as to what he wanted brought out the answer that there were some trunks of hers at the depot that must be moved at once The landlady thought it very singular that a man should call on such an errand at that time of night and was still more mystified when the same individual in-dividual appeared at the house again vesterday morning with the same inquiry He was informed that no one by the name mentioned was in the house He the asked after a man answering the description de-scriptIOn of Robinson and received the answer that HE WAS ROOMING THEREWith THERE-With that he left and a short time afterwards Franks and Cannon entered the house without any particular ceremony and proceeded up stairs to Robinsons room where the arrest was madt > as above described After being allowed to don their street costumes the pair were brought to the Marshals office and subsequently taken before Commissioner Norrell Robinson sent for Mr Critchlow to defend him and in behalf of his client that gentleman asked that bail be fixed at as small a sum as possible In view of the fact that defendant was already under bonds to answer to another charge and there was not much likelihood likeli-hood of his leaving The Commissioner replied that he could not take notice of the fact that defendant was already under bonds only in so far as such a case might have a tendency to make it a matter of some difficulty for defendant TO OBTAIN MORE BONDS He thought 1500 was small enough but taking the fact into consideration that a bond to secure defendants appearance ap-pearance was already in existence he would make the amount 1 000 Mrs Purmaa had no counsel and in response to a question by the Com mis missioner as to whether she wanted to secure legal advice before the examination I examina-tion was preceeded with sht replied I I thin it would be advisable Sail was fixed at the same amount and the examination set for 1 pm Shortly after that hour Mr Peters was present to repr Jtent th government govern-ment but just aa the case wa about to be commenced it was discovered that two witnesses and very important ones M Klopenstein and W i Ten Broeck were not in court At the request re-quest of Mr Peters an attachment was issued for the absentees Ater waiting an hour or more the wanted witnesses failed to materialize and the caie was adjourned until tomorrow It was generally remarked last eVening even-ing that there was SOMETHING VERY MYSTERIOUS in the disappearance of Ten Broeck He it was who swore out the complaint on which the arrest were made and who appeared very anxious that the deputies should do their duty in the premises even going so far in the matter as to accom > anv the officers to the room occupied by the defendants Moreover there is 10 doubt but that Ten Broeck was the individual who made the two calls at the house mentioned above and also the same man who detailed a similar story to the police ou Sanday evening Whether will be on Hand today remains re-mains to be seen |
