Show THE AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE Bids are Asked for a 20000 Buillin Work to be Soon Begun Governor West Secretary Hall and Assessor Egan of Davis County members of the Agricultural college board arrived in Logan yesterday b company with members mem-bers of the county court and a number of members of the city council and leading citizens of Logan they were taken in carriages to the bench northeast of the temple where were seen two sites either of which was considered a suitable location for the college Members of the party unanimously expressed ex-pressed themselves as greatly pleased with the locations and the splendid view from either The site on the brow of the upper hill just alittle north and cast of the Fifth ward school house seemed to give the most satisfaction The day was pleasant and the view of the valley was most excellent for this season of the year There is somewhere some-where about ninetythree acres of land in this location There can be had an abundance abund-ance of water and the soil is very fair as good as need be wanted The other site farther north comprising about sixtyseven acres is also a beautiful beauti-ful location but not quite so convenient to the city and does not afford so extensive a view of the valley After returning from the locations the agricultural board met in the court house and decided to accept the site just northeast of the Fifth ward school house They authorized au-thorized the secretary of the board to advertise ad-vertise for plans for a 20000 building plans to be delivered to the secretary before the ICth of April On that date the agricultural board will meet in this city to decide on the plan Work will then be pushed ahead as rapidly as possible The following is the offer of the county and city To VIC President ami Board of Trustees of the Agricultural College of Utah GENTLEMEN In behalf of Cache county and Logan city we have the honor to proffer to your honorable body a site and tract of land for the location 01 tne Agricultural college Utah as follows to wit Commencing at a point four and 50100 450 chains north of the southwest corner of block 1 fourteen 14 plat E Logan city bg i J t and survey thence north on street line ten 50100 10 50 chains to the centre of the west line of block thirteen 13 said plat and surrey thence east ten and 50100 10 50 chains to the centre of the west line of block sixteen < 10 said plat and survey sur-vey thence north fifteen 15 chains to the northwest corner of block seventeen 17 said plat survey thence east thirtynine and 50100 3950 chains to the northeast c jrner of block forty 40j said plat and survey sur-vey thence south thirteen 13 chains m ire or less to the brow of the hill thence in a SQuthivesteriv direction following meanders of the brow of the hill to its intersection in-tersection with the east line of block fifteen fif-teen 15 said plat and survey thence north to the center of the east line of said block 15 said plat and survey thence west nineteen and 53100 1950 chains to the place of beginning containing ninety two 92 acres more or less Also nun hundred full Daid shares of five dollars each of the capital stock of the Logan Hyde Park and Smithfield canal company This proffer is made subject to the following lowing conditions and restrictions Acceptance of lands designated and trust herein conferred under the conditions condi-tions named 2Thc payment of one dollar 3The erecton upon said lands of such buildings as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of an act of the legislative assembly of the territory of Utah approved ap-proved March S 1SSS entitled An Act to dt tlc stI 8gi establish an Agricultural College and an Agricultural Experiment Station in connection con-nection therewith 4That whenever the purpose defined in said act shall cease to be carried out and said lands shall cease to be used for such purposes then the proposed trust shall cease and the grant become absolutely void and to no effect and said lands shall revert to Cach count and Logan city in equal parts > for Cache county WILLIAM GOODWIN Probate Judge NEWEL W KIMIIALL Selectman For Logan City B F RITEII TiiowsInviNn Special Committee of Logan City Council Logan Journal |
