circles aro not very much agitated agi-tated at present The police court has taken on a virtuous streak and the probate court business is flat and unprofitable An awakening however may be looked for in the Third district court in a few days when several important cases will come up Among those to be heard in the near future is that of the People vs Spencer and I I Stringham charged with the murder of I Sargeant Pike which will come up during the early part of nest week In the Third District Judge Anderson disposed of the following follow-ing cases yesterday nu DIDXT DO IT W J Ryan charged with robbery in that he had held up a small boy and relieved re-lieved him of all his valuables was arraigned ar-raigned and entered a plea of not guilty DENIES TilE ACCUSATION Howard Twombley who was arrested on an indictment char ing him with assault with intent to do bodily harm challenged the judgment of the members of the grand jury by which he had been indicted by entering a plea of not guilty A BILL OF EXCEPTION In the case of Gillmor vs Williams the plaintiff had obtained a judgment against the defendant on motion of the latter ten days time was allowed to file a bill of exceptions ex-ceptions VENT over Foil TilE TCKM The People vs Pascoe obtaining goods under false pretenses on motion of defendant defend-ant case went over for the term EDDIE FAILS TO AIPE Eddie Wertz is or was at the time he got into trouble a brakeman in the employ of Central Pacific railway Eddie was al allowed a few days vacation late last summer sum-mer and he wisely concluded to spend it in this city One bright Sunday he went out to Garfield Beach Later in the day Mr T C Kooklidge missed a gold watch and I some coins which some one had taken from his clothes as they were hanging up in his bath house He reported the loss to Sheriff McBride and a few minutes later Wertz was arrested On his person was found the property of Mr Kooklidge He was brought to town and in a short time 000 in gold was deposited as security for his appearance and Eddie went forth free Still later the S500 was collected and a bond in the same amount executed by a relative and a friend of the defendant Yesterday when the case was called the defendant failed to answer and the bond was declared forfeited THE CASE AGAIXST IIBXDEKsOX William Henderson stands charged with the crime of assault with intent to do bodily injury This case grew out of a slight misunderstanding between the defendant de-fendant and a friend at Sandy last fall when it is alleged the defendant drew his pun and shot at his McEwan has filed a complaint com-plaint in the Third district court against Thomas J McEwan in which she alleges that the defendant her husband has been guilty of cruel treatment of failure to provide
