Show The New Jersey Assembly TRENTos January 12Two policemen police-men who exercised their authority in the assembly chamber yesterday were arrested today but were at once admitted ad-mitted to bail the object of the arrest simply being to lay the grodnd for proceedings pro-ceedings against Governor Abbott who directed the policemens action The purpose of the regular Democrats to organize the assembly on their own basis has been abandoned and the house met this morning with Speaker Baird in the chair ana memberseli ct were sworn in In accordance with the resolution I adopted yesterday the clerk did not call the names of Turley or Walters both Democrats This created ANOTHER SCEXEOF CONFUSION Two Democratic members McDermott and Feeney seized the roll from the clerk and attempted to add the names of Tnrley d Walters but after a free fight the clerk recovered the rolls The Democrats then began a parliamentary parlia-mentary fight to have the omitted names addedand fiery speeches were made At 130 pm the House by a vote of 30 to 28 adjourned till 3 pm Messrs Wolverton and Arnwiue two of yesterdays bolters voted with the Democrats in the affirmative as did the labor men Carroll and Donohue Speaker Baird and Mr Kinney who also bolted the Democratic caucus yesterday yes-terday voted with the Republicans in the negative This is considered the test vote |
