Show To Be Returned Free ot Duty WASHINGTON March 23 Secretary Win don has issued the following instructions to customs officers in regard to the Paris exposition Manufacturers articles or wares produced duced or manufactured in the United States which may be sent to the Paris exposition of 18S9 will upon their return to the United States be admitted t free entry upon compliance with the following requirements that is to say the shippers at the times and port of exportation shall file at the custom house a manifest showing the marks and the number of packages together with an invoice ors tatemcnt spec fying the contents a such packages which I document may if shippers so desire be sent to the assistant commissionergeneral of such xhibitionwnose office is at No 1 Broadway New York and who will act as their agent for such purpose and shall upon retur of packages produce certificates either from the director or other proper Officer of said Paris Exhibition authenticated by the United States minister or con uar officer or by statement of consignees at foreign ports from which reimportations may be made certified by the proper officer of customs at that port and required by the departments circular of March 211SSO goods which documents shall fully identify the Paintings and other works of art product produc-t rof foreign schools of art which may ben be-n pw owned in this country by residents of ho United States and which may be loaned to the French department of fine arts of said exhibition for exhibition will also upon their return to the United States bee be-e from payment of duty upon their identity being established in the manner hereinbefore described |
