Show A O U W Supremo Receiver Joseph IT Icnhurt Who Died Recently Joseph H Lenhart supreme receiver of tho A O U W since 1880 died recently in Meadville Pa Bro Lenhart says The Guide was born Liverpool Perry county Pa Jan 23 1821 and came to Meadville about fifty years ago since which time he has made Meadville his home Ho was for a good many years cashier of the Peoples Savings Sav-ings bank of Meadville and resigned that position po-sition to accept tho management of tho business busi-ness of the Meadville Fuel Gas company when they began supplying that city about two years ago which position he occupied at the time of his death He was a consistent I Curistian and for many years a prominent I member of the first M E church He was ubo an active member of tho board of trustees trus-tees of Allegheny college of Masonic lodge No 234 Cussewago lodge L 00 F and of Jefferson lodge No I Ancient Order of United Workmen Mr Lenhart was one of the pioneers of this latter order of which ho has been supreme receiver since 18SG Ho joined the order in 1872 prior to the organization of the su premo lodge and when the total membership numbered only about five hundred He became be-came a member of tho grand lodge of Pennsylvania Penn-sylvania in the rear lt 73 sinco which time ho has never been absent from a session of that body Ho was elected grand overseer in HIT and grand master workman in 1880 Ho was elected a representative to the supreme lodge in ISiS and has been connected with that body in an official capacity over since He served as a member of thosupremo finance committee from 1SSO to 1SS1 and was elected to the responsible position of supreme receiver in 18S8 which position he continvjd to holdup hold-up to the time of his death |
