Show MASONIC jE Tuterestinc Relics In the New York Museum Mu-seum A Iiece of Solomons Temple Thoro arc many valuable relics in the mn sjum in Masonic hall Now York city Among them is tho gold trowel of Benjamin Franklin Frank-lin from Franklin lodge No 447 the tylers sword worn by Greenfield Pate the original warrant of Munn lodge from tho St Johns grand lodge There is also a framed autograph letter of George Washington written in acknowledgment acknowledg-ment of the presentation to him of some Ma sonio jewels It is accompanied by a medallion medal-lion of Washington which is said to be one of tho best likenesses extant and by a lock of his hair Tho genuine character of these priceless relics is duly authenticated Tho collection is in charge of a competent committee whoso members are doing all that is in their power to enlarge it and make it more valuable This committee is receiving frequent additions to tho collection Among tho recent additions is a pitcher with Masonic Ma-sonic emblems hand painted over 100 years old presented by Bro Augustus Reinbold Now York lodge No 330 a Masonic medal dated Nov Zt 1700 presented by It W Bro C W Carpenter of Brooklyn an autograph letter of Sir Archibald Alison Bart the historian Prov grand master of Glasgow Scotland an autograph letter of N Whyte Melville Esq past grandmaster Scotland both deceased and honored members of the I fraternity These autograph letters are valuable I val-uable and were sent by B W Bro William James Ilughan tho Masonic historian of England Eng-land landThe Tho Brooklyn Press is authority for the statement that Dr Frank Brooks of Marlboro Marl-boro Mass has in his possession a piece of tho foundation of King Solomons temple which ho claims has an authentical history asa as-a part of tho foundation of the temple This stone was given him by his father in 1870 who broke it off tho large stone which had just then been brought from Joppa in 1830 or 1840 Tho relic is a three cornered piece about two inches long and an inch thick white and black in color and is very highly prized by tho owner who thinks tho erist once of a piece of tho famous temple well worth mentioning |
