These awards were brought home by five Utah Figure Skating Club members entered in a major figure fi-gure skating competition held recently at Reno, Nev. Holly Cook, Bountiful, and Kenna Bailey, Centerville, competing compet-ing in the ladies' intermediate division, each place first in figures fi-gures and first overall in their respective groups, with Holly skating in Group A and Kenna skating in Group D. KIMBERLY Peck, Bountiful, Bounti-ful, placed fourth in figures, then came on strong to place second overall and win herself a silver award in the ladies' novice division. The two bronze awards were won by Nikki Garrett, Bountiful, and Janet Nate of Salt Lake City. Nikki, skating in the ladies' juvenile division, placed fourth in figures and third overall. Janet, competiting in the ladies' junior division, scored third in figures and third overall. These five skaters were part of a 13-member group representing repre-senting UFSC at the two-day event. The other eight Utah competitors and their ratings were: ladies' juvenile: Lisa Herzog, Sandy, eighth in fi-guresj fi-guresj fifth overall; ladies intermediate: in-termediate: Group A Roxanne Rees, Centerville, eighth in figures, sixth overall. Group B Lara Robertson. SLC, third in figures, seventh overall; Group C Catherine Jackson, fifth in figures, ninth overall. Christine Adams. Bountiful, ninth in figures, seventh overall. LADIES NOVICE Virginia Hugoe. West Bountiful, tenth in figures, tenth overall. Dorothy Bowers. SLC, eleventh in figures, eleventh overall: ladies junior: Kathy Searle. SLC. second in figures, fi-gures, fourth overall. THIS COMPETITION is an annual event conducted by the Central California Interclub Association and sanctioned by the U.S. Figure Skating Association. Asso-ciation. This year, the Sierra Navada Figure Skating Club at Reno served as the host club. More than 200 skaters from clubs in California. Nevada and Utah were entered in the meet. Members of the Utah Figure Skating Club to win honors at competition competi-tion in Reno, Nev., recently were Catherine Jackson, front; second row, Nicole Garrett, Kim Peck, and Kenner Bailey. Third row, Holly Hol-ly Cook, Janet Nate, Virginia Hugoe, Lara Robertson, Kathy Searle, Lisa Herzog and Rozanne Rees. |
