Show A PLEASANT SENDOFF 1 Henry L Thomas Receives One Last Evening A number of Welsh citizens assembled assem-bled at the residence of Mr William N Williams Seventeenth Ward last evening for the purpose of giving a complimentary farewell reception to MrHenryL Thomas father of Commissioner I missioner Arthur L and John Thomas The event was one which win oe long remembered by those who participated and cherished by the veteran Cymro in whose honor it was gotten up as a hearty and pleasant affair The party resolved itself into a sooial meeting with Mr Elias Morris in the chair who called upon several gentlemen for speeches songs and recitations and the responses were freely and ably made The guest made a few very feeling remarks in Welsh Mr G G Bywater read a poetical ddress written for the occasion by Nathan Ddn a Cambrian bard of rare ability Five minute talks were made by Messrs Bywater Arthur L Thomas Elias Morris and E M Bynon and singing sing-ing reciting reading chats over old times and anecdotes and stories and delicious ice cream and toothsome cakes and lemonade combined to make a most enjoyable evening Mr Thomas will leave for his home in Pittsburg in a week or so and will carry with him the good wishes of a host of friends made during his brief sojourn so-journ in the Queen City of the Wet |
