Show At General Grants Tomb i NEW YOKK May 30The U S Grant post G A R arranged its memorial services ser-vices today as heretofore at General grants tomb in Riverside park At the entrance to the tomb a floral arch was reeled bearing the inscription En irined in the hearts of his countrymen Above that was a shield with the national color also qf < flowers and this was surmounted mounted by a floral cross with the Grand Army motto F C L The interior of the tomb was a mass of ror flowers and evergreens so great as to completely com-pletely hide the casket Chan Yen Hoen the Chinese plenipotentiary plenipoten-tiary at Washington sent a floral device bearing his name Many G A R and other organizations also sent more floral ntributations On the lett side of the tomb a platform vas erected on which the exercises were held About five thousand people surrounded I rounded and occupied theenclosureimiront of it Rev J M B Ackley delivered the ration ThoSeventyfirst regiment fired a salute and Chaplain Rev Judson Gal lagher closed with prayer The Unite States inanofivar Galena lay in the river below the tomb and fired fiveminute fred feminue guns during the service and a salute of twent one guns at the close |
