Show Crops In AustriaHungary WASHINGTON Aug 9 ConsulGeneral Goldschmidt of Vienna sends a summary of the crop estimate of AustriaHungary It says the estimates are for a threeoquar ter crop of wheat or an aggregate of one hundred and forty to a hundred and flf ty million bushels with a home consumption of 155000000 bushels which will leave lit tie or nothing for export in spite of the fact that there are 25000000 bushels of ole wheat in the elevators As to the other grains the prospects are no better Rye barley and oats yield an average crop maize is very promising Luguminous plants potatoes and turnips are middling good apples pears and plums are poor Wine alone is very promising although phylloxera for several years previous has reduced the grape harvest considerably and shown up again this season The vines present an unusually promising appearance appear-ance so that the largest expectations are entertained |
