Show Ticket Brokers Contention NEW YORK May 22The American Ticket Brokers association began its annual ual convention today President McCreary called the convention conven-tion to order and read the annual address He called attention to the fact that thereat the-reat railroad corporations had been for the past few months endeavoring to have the business of the members of the asso elation branded as illegitimate These magnates he said had by every means in their power tried to have laws passed by different legislatures declaring the business busi-ness illegal but they had signally failed The small railroads he said principally depended on the ticket brokers for substance sub-stance and that was the reason why the large railroads wished to destroy the business busi-ness of the brokers The report of the executive committee dealt mainly with what was termed the persecution to which the members of the association were subject to during the past year It says in part Onr occupation bas been maligned scandalized and misrep resented It has been I charged with con spiracy with crime with fraud and with all that is evil but the public has been pur ally and truth and honest dealing our only weapons The report was adopted After several communications had been read the convention adjourned The report re-port of the executive committee referred to several members who had been expelled from the association for violation of the rules Among these were Peebles Bro thers Ogden and J B Garland SanFran cisco sco cscoA |
