Show FDNERAL SERVICES TheLast Respects to the Memory of Charlie Whitney i The last rites over the remain of Charles S Whitney were celebrated at the family residence yesterday afternoon after-noon it Patrick of the Eighteenth Ward Bisbopic presiding Several hundred people nearly all of whofn had been either friends or acquaintances of the deceased ronged the sesidenc aunt grounds Mr Careless and most of the members of the Opera Compmv in which Mr Whitney had taken a prominent pro-minent part were present the floral tributes wcre numerous and tasteful a beautiful star c < white flowers having been cent by the Home Dramatic Club an anchor an-chor a cross and numerous wreaths also having been forwarded with the condolences of rarieus friends An eloquent elo-quent and consolatory address was delivered de-livered by Elder John Nicholson i CW fatayner made Blew sympathetic sym-pathetic remarks and the prayers were given by Elder W B Barton and Patriarch Smith The music of the occasion was by Mrs Agnes Olson Thomas Mrs Vilate Young George D Pype and T C Crawford with Mrs Fannie Thatcher at the organ The line of carriages that followed the remains to the grave was a long one and bore testimony of the re card in which the deceased had been held A spot beside the young mans father had been selected for the grave The remains wefe lowered into the ground a dedicatory prayer was offered by Bishop John Q Cannon and all that was mortal of Charles S Whitnev was left to await the sounding of the great salute on Bessarcction day |
