Show l Testing the Applicants According to previous notice a meeting meet-ing was held last evening at the court chambers for the examination of applicants appli-cants for the position of stenographer of the Third Judicial District The crn > mittee appointed by the court were Messrs Hasborough Sutherland and Harkness There were also present Judge Zane Mr Webb representatives of the press and others The following disciples of the winged art were seated at the tables as applicants all of whom are of tun city but the first who hails from Michigan F E McGnrrm Mis Josie Webb J B Hartford J W Pike F Langford P Wagner C W Jain1E Barker J W White and Will G Young The last two it is understood un-derstood made no application Jor the position The examination so far as it proceeded pro-ceeded last evening consisted of readings read-ings by gentlemen of th committee in turn from legal lose at from about 120 to 190 words per nvnute and from four to fifteen minujeb at a stretch The test so far wu admitted by all to be prettv severe and several withdrt w before the close At the end of the reading applicants were ordered to leave their note books on the table They are to meet again at 3 pm today to-day to endvre toe further test of reading read-ing their notes preference to be given to the one who succeeds in reading the greatest amount of written matter in a certain space of time t 7 |
