Show The Thaw It is not improbable that the recent re-cent very heavy thaw has been very general and has been attended with quite a little damage All over this valley it was exceedingly severe and by the thaw on farms and mountain slopes sheets of water flowed down points It was severest sever-est on Sunday The Salt Lake and Jordan Canal for a certain distance had twice as much water in it as at any time last season and whether it has done any damage is not yet known but unless all the flumes were opened it is most probable that there have been some washouts At Sandy the water flowed through the Main street and the greatest exertions exer-tions were necessary to save property prop-erty For a time there was imminent immin-ent danger that some houses would be washed away However it was colder during the early hours of Monday morning and the floods partially I par-tially subsided As the greater part of the snow in the valley has disappeared disap-peared the only damage that might now result will be from canyon floods |
