Show OrossFootis By MATT OWEN Wildcats are riding high after their victory over the Viewmont Vikings by a score of 14 to 13. This was particularly par-ticularly satisfying as the new kids in town took the first round in the soon-to-be traditional tradi-tional cross town rivalry. The Cats in an intense battle with the cross town Vikes started the season off in flying colors. COACH Wally Hawkins stated, "We were fortunate to win. The kids fought hard and capitalized on mistakes. It was an all around good job by the team." The Cats continue on their trail to the state tournament with a game today against the Uintah Utes in Vernal. Game time is 7 p.m. on the Ute field. THIS PAST week the golf team and girls tennis teams found themselves in the midst of activity, with several matches scheduled for next week. The golf team has matches against Logan away and Bear River at home, on Tuesday and Thursday re- spectively and Bear River at home. The gals meet Logan here on Monday and at South on Wednesday. Activities for next week call for a couple of assemblies too. On Tuesday each class will meet with class officers to discuss plans for the upcoming upcom-ing year. A volleyball assembly assem-bly is on tap Wednesday with the University of Utah women's volleyball team demonstrating their skills in the Wildcat gym. THE FOOTBALL team will see action again on Thursday and Friday as the region schedule gets underway. The j.V.'s will play the Bears at home on Thursday while the varsity travels to Bear River to take on the Bears on their home field at 7:30 p.m. This is an important encounter for the Cats as they will be seeking to start region playoff in winning style. Homecoming is "a coming" com-ing" the week of Oct. 9-14, so Wildcats, sharpen up those claws and be ready to pounce on all the activities in store. |
