Show The Knights are Coming Chicago 3Eminent Commander George D Moulton of St Bernard Commandery Knights Templar who has just returned from a visit in San Francisco during which he made arrangements for the pilgrimage pil-grimage of the coinmandery to the twentysecond triennial conclave of the grand encampment said to a reporter re-porter in reply The object of the trip was to remove all snags In the route of the pilgrimage and to make the rough places smooth While in San Francisco Isucceeded in having a change made in the headquarters of the eommandiry there from the Windsor to the Palace hotel Our party will consist of members of the comraanderv their friends and ladies for mind you we intend to take our ladies alonp the whole numbering over 120 We eav here August 10th by a special train on the Chicago Burlington end Quincy road and our train will be one of the finest that has ever left this city It wi 1 be composed mainly of palace coaches There will be a hotel car and the pilgrims will be supplied with all the delicacies delica-cies of the season furnished in the very best style through the entire trip Our first stopping place will beat be-at Kansas city but we shall only remain there about a couple of houri From there we go to Denver Den-ver and remain there over one day and we shall have a carriage drive from Manitou to Colorado springs we shall also have a dress parade in Denver From there we go to Ogden and Salt Lake City where we will spend two days A special train will be furnished us there on the afternoon of the firdt day by which we go to Garfield and haye a bath in the Great Salt Lake We then return to Og den and go right through to Frisco The Frisco commandery while I was there passed a resolution to send out a delegation of 50 Knights to meet us at Reno 150 miles from San Francisco and just at the commencement of the mountain scenery We shall arrive in San Francisco on the evening of the 18th and any who go with us may he sure of a right royal welcome They are the warmest hearted people here in America Sunday we shall attend church and on Monday will have a grand parade and review by the grand master From then till Thursday our time will be taken up with drills parades etc and on that day we will take part in laying the corner stone of Garfields monument which is being erected iu the public park Saturday we will have a grand dt ess parade and a prize drill The Sfe Bernard Commandery will take along the champion banner won from the Raper Commandery and which belongs to the St Bernard now beyond dispute as the limited time has passed without a challenge The commandery will enter the lists and the technical prize drill in which five trophies are offered The trophies are among the finest specimens of artworkmanship that can Veil be imagined Only three commanderies have as yet entered but it is expected that there will be others These three are the St Bernard of Chicago Kaper of Indianapolis In-dianapolis and Demlay No 12 of Louisville Our visit to San Francisco Fran-cisco will be a continual round of hospitality receptions public entertainments enter-tainments etc There will be representatives re-presentatives at the Triennial convention from nearly every commander com-mander in tbe United States but New York Philadelphia Baltimore = Balti-more St Louis and Chicago are the only places that send spec Jl trains Most of the representatives from other places will join one or other of these excursion partiEs We shall leave San Francisco on the return trip on August 26th and will come I right through without stopping at any place on the way The fame train that takes us there will bring us back St Bernards Commandery I will on this occasion form an escort to the Grand Commandery of Illinois Ill-inois The Oriental Consistory has tendered its services as an escort to the St Bernards Commandery to the train us it leaves the city which Curterj has been accepted |
