Show JEWELRY CLASS The jewelry making program at the Bountiful Art Center has greatly benefited from the wealth of knowledge and experience of the new instructor, in-structor, Robert McCall. "MAC," as he likes to be' called, brings a wealth of previous teaching experience with him from Montana as well as a most creative approach to contemporary jewelry making. He indicates that teaching is a most stimulating challenge for it provides an opportunity to share one's artistic ar-tistic ideas with others and at the same time be excited by their unique and fresh ideas. MAC'S jewelry is interesting interest-ing in that some people see in & ' , - 'v 4m Robert McCall has been teaching many local residents the fine art of making jewelry, in a class at the Bountiful Art Center. it relationships to aesthetics of earlier cultures, such as Mayan or Incan, or even native na-tive African civilizations. Yet others perceive imagery of the new space age technology -- so the pieces express at the same time ideas of cultures far removed from each other in time. THE JEWELRY program will be moved to the Davis Complex location on 500 South during the Christmas holidays. This move will provide larger working area as well as a more permanent and accessible workshop facility. By being relocated, the jewelry shop will be available for students during the normal nor-mal operating hours of the Davis Program and therefore provide a usable workshop-studio workshop-studio arrangement throughout the quarter. MAC IS but one of the new instructors with the Art Center this year. In addition, x there is Ron Nolte who teaches the new program in Stained and Leaded Glass, and Allan Thelin, who is in charge of the photography program. The LeConte Stewart Festival Fes-tival will continue through November 28 at the Center. Artists interested in par-1 ticipating in the Christmas Art Sale during the first few weeks in December are encouraged en-couraged to contact the center for details. |
