Show WEAK EAK MORTALS IN NEED OF SALVATION Rev H E Hays Points Out Mans in Strong Sermon The need of a great salvation was emphasized In the morning sermon of the Rev Bev Herbert E Hays at the Third Presbyterian church yesterday the text being from Romans 1 16 I 1 am amnot amnot amnot not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth to the Jew first and also to the Greek We need a great salvation said Mr lIr Hays Sin Is stronger than we are Of ourselves we are weak Ignorant and corrupt and are on our way to de destruction destruction destruction We need some one from above us to come down and save us This is the natural expectation in the human breast that God will give us help not that we deserve It but that He is great enough to be able and good enough to be willing to save us The text is simply a statement One may search In vain outside of Christianity for an adequate religion continued Mr Hays Hinduism Bud Mohammedanism and all the rest have failed to do for tor the race what It needs and most of these religions have greatly deteriorated and are be becoming becoming becoming coming less able to do anything for the world It would seem to follow then that the Christian religion is Intended for all aU through the coming of Christ His power over mans sin and the spread of His Big influence are as much a part of history as are any an other events Wherever the Christian religion goes it does the work There Is no civilization that is thoroughly Chris tian but the morality of such countries as the United States and Great Britain Is as white to black when compared with that of most lands The religion r of Jesus Christ is the most Important element in the prospective development of the na natiOns tiers Let us then catch the spirit of Paul He did his best to evangelize the world Let us do the same He said that he was a debtor to the whole hu human human human man race race owing them the knowledge he had of Jesus Christ We have the same knowledge and therefore the same obligation Let us shoulder It |
