Show : ' ' Hi i yl - - - -Mnv : s . ' ' ' I SHIM TEAM Tuesday afternoon at the Bountiful Recreation Center, Girls Swim Teams from Region 2 met for an A and B Meet. Represented were Bonneville, Bon-neville, Clearfield, Layton, Roy, Sky View, Viewmont and Bountiful. THE BOUNTIFUL Girls showed great strength by winning 8 out of 11 events during the meet, and taking second place in two events. Bountiful has no divers, so that event was their only weak spot of the day's events. To date, the potential for the Braves Girls Swim Team is the most progressive of any year. At the Tuesday meet, school records fell left and right, and A and B records as well. THE swimming as in other sports, participating and workouts are the key to progressive programs. More and more enthusiastic swimmers are entering the program, giving each school the opportunity to produce an ' A and B team. At meets like the one held on Tuesday, all members of the teams are included in events. Each swimmer may participate in two individual events and one relay. Bountiful now has a region meet tucked neatly under their belts, and are looking forward to continual dual meets to develop strength and endurance, the two elements most needed as the state meet draws near. BOUNTIFUL swimmers who broke both A and B records at the meet are LaVern Heath in the 200 freestyle event. She also broke the record for the 100 yard freestyle. Teammate Irene Calder now holds the record for the 500 yard freestyle. free-style. Another Bountifuliie, Chris Manfull is the record holder for the 100 yard breastroke. The 400 yard freestyle relay is also a Bountiful record, held by Syd Moore, Alita Asmum, Irene Calder and LaVern Heath.
